    Smoothies are my all time breakfast favourites and I churn them in all possible combinations and this healthy Pineapple smoothie is my go to recipe for an easy smoothie fix.

    Last week I got a fabulously fresh pineapple from our local roadside vendor and while half of it was snacked upon, the remaining half went into making this delicious and simple Pineapple Banana Smoothie.

    With the availability of low fat greek yogurt easily in India now, It’s my preferred type of yogurt for smoothie recipes as it makes them thick and luscious and still keep the calorie count under check.

    However, if it’s not available, you can use the regular curd. You can strain the curd for a few hours before adding it in smoothies for extra richness.

    I ate an embarrassing amount of food this past week. I literally feel like for the last 5 days I’ve been jumping from one meal to the next, to the next. But that’s kind of on par for Thanksgiving weekend though, right? Eat ridiculously crazy amounts of food, sleep, then do it all over again a few hours later? In your pajamas. And slippers. Duh.

    Well, Saturday morning I woke up and realized that real life (Monday) was just around the corner, and I needed to pull myself together. I was craving something healthy and nutritious, something that made me feel okay about shoving endless piles of mashed potatoes in my face the night before (and the night before that).

    This green smoothie never fails. It’s guilt free, easy to make, and the perfect morning-after meal to make you feel human again.

    I’m kind of obsessed with green smoothies. You don’t actually taste the spinach, kale, or whatever other green you decide to throw in. Don’t get me wrong, I love me a good spinach or kale salad, but it’s a whole other ball game to think about DRINKING a salad. Weird concept.

    The greens in this smoothie simply supply the beautiful color and nutritious value, but it’s the sweetness from the fruits that make this so delightful to sip.

    Smoothies are also so fun because you can pretty much add whatever you want to give it a boost. Is it sad that my idea of fun is throwing food into a blender? Wow, I should get out more.

    I decided to throw in some whole flaxseeds. Because why not? Another health benefit without compromising taste.

    This recipe makes enough for 4 normal sized smoothies, or 2 giant ones and 1 baby sized (that’s how we roll in this house). My daughter downed her glass in no time.

    And if you don’t have kids, you should pour some in a tiny glass anyway, because it’s so cute.

    How to Make Banana Smoothies

    There really aren’t any steps to this recipe other than adding everything to the blender and blending, but there are a few tips and tricks that might help:

    • Pineapple: To get this recipe started, we’re kicking things off with 2 cups of pineapple. Fresh or canned both work well here!
    • Ice: Next up, give your smoothie that perfect frosted consistency with 2 cups of ice. (Alternatively, to avoid using ice and risking a melted, watered down smoothie, just freeze the pineapple! Let the pineapple chill in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before blending. Then, skip the ice!)

    When we’re on the go, we don’t always have time for a sit-down breakfast. I mean, it’s nice when we do, but the reality is that we’re often rushing out the door, already a few minutes too late. But with breakfast being the most important meal of the day, we can’t just skip it, can we? No! Especially not when having a filling morning meal is as easy as drinking a yummy smoothie.

    Pineapple Banana Breakfast Smoothie Recipe

    Ingredients:

    • 3 cups frozen chopped pineapple
    • 1 peeled and frozen banana
    • 1 cup orange juice

    • 1/3 cup old fashioned oats or rolled oats

    Directions:

    1. Add liquids (orange juice and milk) to the blender first, followed by the frozen fruit and the oats.
